Our Gifts and Graces
Each according to his or her gifts and graces says the Book of Discipline. To that effort we offer this page as a place for the written gifts and graces of our church family.
Here then are three poems by Allison J.:
A Carpet of Gold
A carpet of gold all sprinkled with dew
Will give a new color to the green grasses hue
When frolickin' 'round that carpet of gold I'll often look up
To see what's in store If any more leaves will soon come tumbling down
To fill up the spaces of the green grasses ground
When the cold winter comes and the gold disappears
A blanket of silver will appear there instead.
Music
With words no other sound can copy
A voice of it's own so sweet
The music flows into the air A rhythm of it's own to beat In the air
The silver threads of sound are woven into an entrancing song
It's beauty of a kind unknown It's wonder glittering all around
There has never been such a sound.
Joy
Joy, happiness, peace, and love
Four words of undeniable beauty
Joy
is a feeling
that disintegrates sadness
it is a feeling
it courses through you like the blood in your veins
Joy brings on happiness
Happiness
a thought that lights up our world
as though all darkness has fled
puts smiles on our faces and warms our hearts
Happiness brings on peace
Peace
it keeps a contract
of friendship and loyalty
someday Peace shall overcome Evil
and there will be no Hate or Doubt in our minds
Peace brings on love
Love
it is a wondrous creation
it colors our world it makes the sky a brighter blue
the breathtaking view of the sunrise change from the dark of night
to a dazzling gold
it creates bonds so strong an ocean can't separate them
Love creates Peace, Happiness, and Joy.
